Saturday, November 26

A little down time, sort of. Since leaving friends Nancy and Bert in Ashland on election day, we've been in Portland with Sam and family. The visit got off to a strange start at Sam and Marisa's election party, which turned out to be an election wake.

While we've all struggled to recover from election shock, we've had a good visit -- spoiling grandchildren, playing endless games of tickle monster, crazy eights, scrabble, making playground visits, doing much reading aloud, attending Math Night at school, etc. Not content with throwing an election party while packing for their move to a new house the week after Christmas, Sam and Marisa also hosted twenty friends and relations for a big, long, wonderful Thanksgiving gathering.

Finally we've stayed in one place long enough to get needed repairs and maintenance on the rig, so we're ready for the road. But first: Next stop is Palo Alto for several days to visit friends and race through appointments with doctors, dentists, mechanics, plumbers, and such. Then on to Laura and Mia's cabin in the Sierra for Christmas and New Years.

Happy Holidays!

  1. Hey, what beautiful kids. So much fun.
For you, I don't know whether to sing, "So long,so glad to know you," or She'll be coming around the mountain, when she comes." Need a bed between Portland and P A? Two waiting in Ashyland.
